The General, The High Priest and the King

Paper dolls was one of the most popular toys for girl back in 80s’ Thailand and playing a huge part to shape the way they think about themselves and their gender roles; especially in Bangkok’s all-girl school during the 80s, by offering the choices of cloth for girls to choose to wear.

Using a traditional paper doll together with life-size paper monk robe, paper military uniform and paper royal cloak, the artist questions her role in the un-official motto and 3 main institutions of Thailand, Nation - Religion - King ( ชาติ - ศาสนา - พระมหากษัตริย์ ) as a Thai woman..

The General, The High Priest and the King is part of Unwrapped Exhibition in May 2016
at Sugar Club Art Space, Queens.
