NOC : Final project proposal
This is the final project proposal that I attempt to mix the Nature of Code class with Intangible Design class. Project inspiration is from when I was sick during the beginning of the quarantine.
Background and concept
As a person with depression myself, sometimes it is quite difficult to realize that I was already under depression phase, and most of the time close friends and family are the one who kept checking on me before I got too deep and have to go back to the pills. Though, another important thing that help lifting up mood condition is a random happy accident. For example ; going out for a walk and suddenly got under a komorebi light or just ran into a friend and having a little good chat. But this kind of happy accident was all disappeared when you are practicing social distancing.
Surprisingly (and even might be a little cheesy enough), I noticed that everyday after 7pm clapping and chanting, I feel a little bit more cheerful and less negative, which means that the chant and clap sounds is not only do the honor to all workers who is fighting the coronavirus but also help lifting up my mundane mood as well.
Therefore, inspired by this happy accident from happening sounds around me, I want to use technology to imitate the same kind of accident or create a mood shifter tool to set a new mood condition to the space, or even to help the person with depression to cope with their mood conditions.
Project Summary
Sounds is one of the most effective tools to change and control our mood.
What if we could have a back up sound or some white noise setting that is able to automatically adjust its theme according to our mental and physical conditions to help us from depression? or at least add a little after taste to a bitter
This project is aiming to imitate the accidentally sounds such as white noises, voices, recordings and music for the user using sensors or machine leaning that were adjusted to fit with each users to predict the best moment ( Happy Accident ) to create the sound to shift the user mood condition.
Using a happy accident as inspiration, the Input and output of the project can be totally different according to what is the best for the user need as a mood shifter. For this demo I use the sound of rain as an input since rainy days and mundane days always get us down.

I am planing on continue the rest of NoC class this summer. And since now I’m working on short animation project for an education nonprofit organization back in Thailand so I’m even more eager to continue on using ML5 and Posenet together with the NoC class to create more interactive GIF and illustration for the web.
Here is some of my illustration that I’m planing to work on after done with the project this summer by trying to move and control the particles with forces ( something like what Christina did for her midterm project ) with ml5 and Posenet.
