Making 5 Plant Hangers

Inspiration

Living in a small space but couldn’t stop myself to buy new plants, I decided to make plant hangers for this projects. I wanted to use many small pudding bottles that I have as a vase as well. So, I started my sketch from 2 inch diameter hole in the wood plate which also fit tiny terracotta pots.

Making my DIY Jig to make the hexagon shape and drilling

Process

I cut the wood into square shape first, then made my own jig to cut the corners of the squares in order to create the hexagon shape. After that I drilled the hole in the middle of the wood to make a space for the bottom of the pudding bottle/terra-cotta pot to sit better and more stable. After that using the jig and to drill 4 small holes for the jute rope. And finally, Sand the pieces.

Conclusion

Making DIY Jig and using stop blocks seems very complicated and taking too much time at the beginning. Anyway, after it all set up, everything all went very smooth and effective - definitely much faster than repeatedly do everything one by one for sure. The unexpected thing for me in this project is balancing the hanger by the jute ropes is very hard! and I have no idea that you need to know some certain trick which is you should start from the top knot first so it’ll be easier to balance the hanger.
